After entering the world of media working for a local newspaper as a teenager in regional Queensland, Leisa Goddard has almost 30 years’ experience as a trusted Australian journalist and is Founder and Managing Director of award-winning Australian Public Relations agency, Adoni Media.
Leisa’s journalistic experience spans across all 3 Australian commercial TV networks including reporting on A Current Affair and Today Tonight. She has experience covering Hurricane Katrina, the Virginia Tech Massacre, terror bombings across the globe and earned a Logie Award nomination for reporting while under a Taliban rocket attack in the Afghanistan War. The United Nations have also recognised her work on humanitarian issues with a Media Peace Award in 2004. While running her busy PR firm and raising two children, she is still a regular weekly commentator on Sky News Media.
Her solid and hands-on understanding of the media is what has helped develop Adoni Media into the success story it is today. With an enriched team of senior journalists and digital marketing experts, Adoni provides their clients with media training in a way that only journalists can – because they know what makes a story and what journalists want. Adoni gains widespread media exposure and creates award-winning campaigns for their clients, including one of Australia’s Best Government Relations campaigns. With offices in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth, the firm was also recently awarded a spot in Clutch’s Top 10 leaders in the world for corporate communications, and in the top 25 for crisis communications and online reputation management. Adoni Media was the only Australian PR agency named in those categories.
Leisa is also extremely passionate about giving back to the next generation of media and PR professionals. “As a junior reporter, I had great mentors and now as the Managing Director of my own agency, I’m privileged to be able to help and guide those starting their media careers,” she said. As an extension of the year-round internship program at Adoni Media offering PR, Media and Journalism students real-world experience, she has implemented The Leisa Goddard Scholarship for Excellence in Media. This scholarship annually awards one student in the industry a scholarship of $5,000 to assist with study costs and a placement in the internship program.
