How to grow your business with Social Media

Can I really grow my business with Social Media?

Absolutely. In fact, it’s getting harder grow your business without it. The key is to create a reliable flow of new leads, and the first step is to get more attention for your brand, your product or your offer. With literally billions of people using Social Media every day, there is no better place to consistently get your message in front of new people.

A simple plan that works.

It sounds simple but the truth is, its not. If it was, every business would be doing it well and making millions, right? But with a simple plan you can absolutely give yourself the best chance of success. In my experience, the simplest plans are the most robust and most successful. I’ve used this simple 3 step approach to reliably get leads and sales in multiple industries. Here’s how you can use it too.

Will it cost me money?

If you get it right it will MAKE you money. But, yes, you need to be willing to invest in your business growth and that means paid ads. Don’t worry, I’m about to show you how to do it right!

Finding your tribe

Step one is to find the people who value what you do and are willing to pay you for your product or expertise. Start with a blog, podcast, video or even a status update about something they will find useful. It’s crucial to give loads of value. Give a useful tip or piece of advice that people can actually use. You’re not asking for anything in return yet, the only goal is for people to consume this valuable piece of content and start to see you as an expert. Yes, the end goal is to make a sale, but right now we’re building a tribe of people who value what you’re offering and trust you as someone who can help them. Allocate a small part of your ad budget, maybe 10%, to promoting this content.

Building a list

Next, is to get people onto email and SMS lists. The most efficient way is to offer them something of real value in return for their info. My favourite pieces of content are ebooks, checklists and webinars. Again, you need to make sure these are genuinely helpful. Identify one desire your ideal customer has and make sure what you’re offering can actually help achieve it. Allocate most of your ad budget to promoting this. Show the ads to people who engaged with your awareness ads from step one and also to new audiences.

Warming up your list and getting the sale

This is where we seal the deal! Everything we’ve just done is about finding the people who want what you’re selling and getting them onto our list. Now we need to build trust and ask for the sale. I find regular emails with useful tips, updates and advice with an irresistible offer every 3rd or 4th email is the winning formula. If you’re not offering real value, people will simply stop opening your emails.

Pro tips for success.

A couple of pro tips to really level up your game. Invest time getting to know your ideal customer. What are their fears and frustrations, goals and desires. This will make sure your content speaks to them. Second, build an irresistible offer. It’s a science and there is a ton of advice on how to do it well. It’s worth investing time in this too before you start.

Last word.

There are no guarantees in business or marketing but if you’re courageous and persistent, implement this strategy and refuse to give up, it’ll work just about every time.
