How a Band of Brothers Grew From a One Man Band That Now Saves SMEs from IT headaches

When people start their own small business, one of the things they need the most, and understand the least is the IT  – computers, servers, the cloud, data storage, client data management, firewalls, malware, spyware, hacking and cyber crime all combine to make the poor small business owner tear their hair out.

Malcolm Joosse saw these frustrations taking their toll on small business owners when working for a software business, and he decided to come to their rescue.

“I started Hotline IT 25 years ago because I could not find anyone who was proactively helping small business people manage their IT. I just knew in my heart that I could relieve business owners and managers from the burden of handling all their technology by delivering reliable and cost-effective IT solutions. So I took the plunge and 25 years later, we still have many of the clients we brought on in our first year,” explains Malcolm Joosse, Director of Hotline IT.

Malcolm embraced the words of Rebecca Henderson (Professor and Researcher) who believes “having an authentic purpose is becoming an increasing source of competitive advantage.”

Malcolm’s authentic purpose is to help SMEs to keep their doors open in the face of mounting research about how often this sector fails.  According to a UTS Study:

  • One in three new small businesses in Australia are estimated to fail in their first year of operation.
  • Two out of four by the end of the second year.
  • Three out of four by the fifth year.

By providing a leading full service IT provider, SME’s can forget about the management of their  complete network and get on with their core business, knowing that Hotline IT are on hand with tailor-made solutions that include IT support, internet, telephony, virtual CIO, security, hardware/software (buy and lease) and print management.

Malcolm’s wife Michelle also works in the business with him and says, “We haven’t been in business for 25 years by only providing IT support, we have been innovative with our diverse product and service offerings that puts us in a league of our own. SMEs know they can trust us and that’s a very important ingredient in doing business in today’s world.”
