How To Find Freelancers To Grow Your Business

With more people than ever working from home, it’s no wonder that many businesses are trying to tap into the power that is freelancing. Most entrepreneurs find it easy to get their business up and running by finding and utilizing freelancers to launch their businesses.

I have been able to use my freelancers to grow my business, and have been able to develop and find top talent along the way.

After many years of launching new companies, both remote and in-person, I rely on freelancers to make my vision a reality.

Why I Use Freelancers

Freelancers are flexible and easy to work with. Additionally, it is easy to search for and find freelancers with the exact skill set to solve a problem you are currently facing. Freelancers take great pride in their work, and go above and beyond to make sure that the projects they completed are top-notch!

From a business standpoint, working with freelancers is considerably cheaper than hiring employees, and even working on one time projects freelancers are easier to manage and train than some other types of employees. We often use freelancers for a variety of positions, such as administrative, marketing, web design, and more!

How I Find Freelancers

For my Private Money Loans company,  There are many different types of jobs we may need a freelancer for.

We turn to job boards to find great freelancers. When I am looking to hire freelancers, I always write a job brief before we post. We want to know if it is recurring, has room to grow, is a one time project, and knows exactly what skill set they need to succeed.

Once we have our job brief, we post and sometimes may invite freelancers on platforms like Upwork to apply if they match!

We have an interview and go over exactly what they need, and ask them to perform a small test; to prove that they can complete the job correctly. If they pass the interview and have the skill we need, we hire that freelancer!

How To Keep Freelancers

I always want to keep top talent, and if I find a great freelancer I go above and beyond to make sure that if I contact them they will work for me!

How I keep top talent depends on the position. If it is a one time project, I always do an exit interview and thank them for their time and work and make sure that we leave a glowing review. A tip or bonus for projects completed ahead of schedule is always appreciated as well.

For recurring projects, we offer them a contract position, which comes with schedule times per week and predetermined tasks. I am sure to always set clear expectations and even offer to coach and mentoring to help cultivate my top talents.
