Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus Review

The Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus is probably one of the most incredible gaming experiences  to hit the market in recent years.  The last time a console got gamers this excited, it was called a Wii.  It was 2006 and the gaming landscape was changed for years to come.  There’s a very good chance the Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus may just do the same thing.   A bold claim indeed.  But read on, and we’ll explain.

The Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus is a gaming console targeted specifically at the ever-growing retro gaming market. This baby is aimed at retro gamers who want to relive the nostalgic gaming experience of the 80s and 90s.  Do you remember playing the original Sonic The Hedgehog back in the days on your shiny, new,  Sega Megadrive?  Or perhaps you have fond memories of the first time you fired up Sewer Shark or Ground Zero Texas on the Mega CD?  Well, if any of these ring a bell, welcome to retro heaven.

The  Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus comes with a mind blowing library of over 114,000 games from classic consoles such as NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and more.  Yes,  read that sentence again.  114,000 games.  Admittedly a couple of the games (in particular the Commodore 64 titles) had problems running when using the hand held controller.  But even if you discounted 20 per cent of that 114,000, you’re still left with enough games to play to last you several life times.

In keeping with the old school vibe,  the Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus has a retro-style design, featuring a black, white and yellow color scheme with red accents. On first unboxing, we were surprised at just how compact and lightweight this console is.  This of course made it easy to store and transport.

It’s also worth mentioning the Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus comes equipped with the latest EmuELEC4.5 game system as well as an Android TV system and CoreELEC multimedia audio and video system.  This means you can use the console for gaming as well as watching movies and surfing the net.   Fantastic.

We were pleased to find the Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus console is designed with a high-quality heat sink to prevent overheating, which is an essential feature for prolonged gaming sessions. The Kinhank console also features an aluminum alloy shell, which not only enhances the look of the console but also provides additional durability.

The retro-style gamepad that comes with the Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus is designed to look and feel like the gamepads from classic consoles, specifically the PS1 or 2.  We found the controller a bit light weight for our tastes,  but we were able to quickly pair our PS4 controller for a more familiar – and sturdier –  gaming feel.

Let’s talk about specs.  Under the hood, the Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus features a built-in Amlogic S905X3 chip, Quad core cortex-A55 Ultra high frequency CPU, 4GB RAM and an impressive 32GB ROM, providing ample power to run even the most demanding retro games.   The console also comes with 128GB of internal storage and supports external storage up to 1TB via a USB 3.0 port.

During our ten day play through,  we found one of the standout features of the Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus was its user-friendly interface. It’s incredibly easy to set up and navigate, and the built-in search function makes it simple to find and play your favorite games.   With over 114,000 games on offer, anything less would mean a life time spent scrolling and scrolling.   The console also comes with a comprehensive on screen user manual, making it easy for users who are new to retro gaming.  The unique manual is a sort of  onscreen video that talks you through pretty much any problem you might have with the console.  Excellent.

In terms of performance, the Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus ran smoothly and the games loaded quickly thanks to its powerful processor and generous amount of RAM. The graphics and sound quality are surprisingly impressive, with the console supporting up to 4K resolution, so you can enjoy your favorite retro games in crisp, razor sharp detail.

Compared to more traditional consoles such as the Xbox or PS4, the Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus offers a completely different gaming experience.  And quite frankly,  it’s a difference we’ve all been waiting and praying for.   While the heavyweight consoles like the Xbox and PS4 are designed for modern gaming and come with a limited library of retro games,  the Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus, on the other hand, is focused entirely on retro gaming and offers a huge library of classic games that can’t be found on modern consoles. This one factor alone makes the Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus a must-have addition for gamers who want to complement their modern console with a retro gaming experience.

The only minor niggle we had with the Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus is the fact that you can’t update the operating system.  After just a few days putting the console through its paces,  we updated the operating system to see what happened.  This caused a few unexpected performance issues.  However,  the team at Kinhank were on the ball and quickly helped us fix the problem.  When was the last time Sony did that for you?

When it comes to value, the Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus is a no brainer. Any console offering over 100,000 games for less than $150 is an absolute bargain.  With its impressive technical specifications, vast game library, and user-friendly interface, this console will provide you with hundreds of hours of sheer gaming pleasure at an affordable price.

To wrap things up, the Kinhank Super Console X3 Plus is an incredibly powerful, versatile, and user-friendly console that provides lots of bang for your buck.  It’s a must-buy for retro gaming enthusiasts who want to relive the classic gaming experiences of their childhood or introduce retro gaming to a new generation.  Go buy.
